Queen of Soda

20 years ago Rosemary was an ambitious Coke vendor, and soon people started talking about this woman who delivered two trucks a day, while others only delivered one. Through word-of-mouth, Coke distributors heard about her and offered her a micro-distribution partnership. Today Rosemary supplies 50 vendors, employs 100 people and runs ‘soda distribution’ training for vendors who want to move up in the world. She says ‘Coke has taken me places’.

Mangoes to Gold

With the support of The Coca-Cola Company, TechnoServe and Project Nurture train farmers in sustainable agriculture. Before TechnoServe came to the community, farmers used to farm for domestic consumption and sell whatever was left over. In September 2010, Project Nurture came into their community and invited every farmer who had at least 9 mango trees to join the initiative. They helped them to form groups and trained the farmers in mango production. The extra money they made from the sale of mangoes helped the people of the community to pay school fees and cover medical expenses.
